Lies risk their existences on the turning of tides. Narratives built on lies do the same. And both remain vulnerable to extinction when rubbed up against the truth — something that drives insanity into the minds of their purveyors.
The “Sydney Sweeney” controversy last week reminded us of that fact. Oh, the madness that ensued when Sweeney reminded us that “men generally want to get into the jeans of beautiful women” while at the same time ‘it isn’t ugly for women to want to be beautiful.” And yet, the backlash by those vested in the lies that rub up against both those truths couldn’t have been louder.
Sweeney threatened the false narratives that have been forced upon society for years now, the ones where everyone needed to recognize “equality and equity” in attractiveness too, when clearly your eyeballs are saying something else. Without question, beautiful women are found within every culture, race, and location in the world. But not every woman living and breathing among us is beautiful, based purely on physical appearance alone. Society, however, has found itself in a state of continuously denying this truth or risk being tarred and feathered.
Then came the young woman with the “good genes/jeans.” And that single threat in this current state of our nation added to the unraveling of a twisted web meant to dissuade men from wanting attractive women, women from enjoying feeling feminine and wanted, relationships from forming, families ensuing, and babies being born. In other words, the re-emergence of the best a more traditional life has to offer, notwithstanding steadfastness, cohesiveness, resilience. and safety. Family Strong!
Sweeney’s jean commercial wasn’t just a jean commercial; more like a perceived shot in the dark. It rubbed up against the wrong thing, per se–a controlled narrative designed to prevent ‘family’ from thriving in both happiness and numbers in our nation.
And although many of those screaming were surely doing so for superficial, ridiculous reasons, it was the ‘inobvious’ that raised its head above the noise and outed itself. The tide has turned and “femininity, family, and facts” are making a comeback. Truth multiplied–the lethality, of which, could very well destroy all of the headway that the manufacturers of these falsehoods and false narratives made previously.
That’s actually why the roars were so loud and vicious, in my opinion. Having experienced it in my own little way as Doormat Mom and a former politics and culture commentary writer, I recognize the handiwork. But a good pair of jeans or a wise book will always make it worth it!
Suffice it to say, tides will, invariably, always turn. And “truth” will always return.
